Michael David Westbrook, age 80, of Jacksboro, formerly of Altoona, passed Friday, Nov. 5, 2021. Surviving are his wife, Jane Wood Westbrook; and nieces and nephews. Family and friends will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021, at Cross-Smith Funeral Home and proceed to Jacksboro Cemetery for a 2 p.m. graveside service and interment with the Rev. Keith Hampton officiating. Military Honors given by the Campbell County Honor Guard. Arrangements are by Cross-Smith Funeral Home, LaFollette, Tenn.

Mike was a terrific person with a strange taste for his daily luncheon sandwich. we sat at the same table for three years. Every day he ate a peanut butter and lettuce sandwich on white bread. Don't knock it until you try it He will be missed.

Mike and I as well as the rest of our team learned that being part of a team requires working together. As a result, we developed friendships that were very special.
It was also nice to play with someone like him who was big and strong.
After graduation, several of us went to Catawba College. Mike only stayed one year and transferred . i lost touch for many years, but seeing and talking with him at our last reunion brought back so many memories.
He made a difference to so many and I truly see the same thing with so many of my past friends from our Class.
Having wonderful friends like Mike is truly a BLESSING .
