Monford H. ‘Monte’ Pattillo

April 27, 1942 – Feb. 6, 202

Monford H. “Monte” Pattillo, 80, Altoona, passed away Monday at UPMC Altoona, surrounded by his family. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Monford W. and Betty G. (Harris) Pattillo.

Monte married Peggy L. Beasom on Aug. 16, 2003.

Surviving are his loving wife; his two sons, Courtney L. Pattillo (Erica) of Shippensburg and Anthony W. Pattillo of Chambersburg; two daughters, Jamie L. Walk (Scott) and Brandy L. Lightner (Rick), both of Altoona; 12 grandchildren: Zion, Bryce, Chase, Taylor, Tia, Erin, Brandon, Alyssa, Dylan, Matthew, Haley and Makayla; and a great-grandchild, Saylor. Also surviving are a brother, Kevin Pattillo; three sisters: Cathy Brawley of Altoona, Marianne Pattillo of Canton, Ohio, and Debbie Jenkins (David) of Mason, Ohio; an aunt, Roxie Thomas; the mother of Courtney and Anthony, Leslie Dively; many nieces and nephews; and his loving dog, Gunner.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ivan and Grady Pattillo; and a sister, Sally Witherspoon.

Monte was a 1960 graduate of Altoona High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves.

After 27 years of service, Monte retired from Penelec as a lineman.

He was a member at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Monte enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2121 5th Ave., Altoona. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Keith Moore.
