Joseph “Pepsi” Dorf­meister, 82, Altoona, passed away Wednesday. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Joseph and Grace (Rimbeck) Dorf­meister.

Joe married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Lingenfelter, on Nov. 16, 1968.

He is survived by his loving wife; and three daughters: Jennifer Dorfmeister; Amy Dorfmeister (Doug) and their son, Jack; and Beth Ann Benzing (Andy) and their children: Madison, Alexandra and Andrew, all living in the Philadelphia area. He has two older sisters who lived in the Altoona area, Ann McGeary (deceased) and Grace Minealle; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Joe attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Altoona High School, Class of 1960.

He served in the U.S. Army National Reserve Unit for six years after high school.

Joe worked in the electrical contracting industry for 40 years. He did his apprenticeship at Neff Electric and later with IBEW Local #5-Pittsburgh. Joe took his master’s electricians exam in 1970, and served on the electrical examining board for 15 years. He also had a small home rental business.

Joe was so proud of his three daughters’ accomplishments throughout their life. He truly loved his family and four grandchildren. He gave his family an amazing life filled with goodness, generosity and unconditional love.

Family and friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, 2023, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 6 p.m. in the Stevens Memorial Chapel with Pastor Drew McCaffery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests, contributions be made in Joe’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, Il 60601 (www.alz.org).
