James D. ‘Jim’ Benn Jr.

On Jan. 14, 1967, he married Joynella Mae Price, who survives.

Jim is survived by his wife; two sons: Brian D. Benn (Lorraine) of North Carolina and Barry J. Benn (Teresa) of Altoona; a daughter, Holly J. Kemper of Altoona; eight grandchildren: Alyssa, Lauran, Anthony, Justin, Shaylee, Brandon, Sierra and Carley; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Judith Werkmeister of Muncy.

Jim was a 1960 graduate of Altoona High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Altoona Bible Church.

Jim retired from Norfolk Southern as a car repairman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid football fan.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Altoona Bible Church, 3017 Union Ave., Altoona, PA 16602, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. by Pastor Stewart W. McClelland.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Altoona Bible Church, 3017 Union Ave., Altoona, PA 16602, in Jim’s memory.
