Sandra L Poet (Servello)

Sandy has been very sick and in a hospital in Pittsburgh.  Just yesterday several classmates were talking about her and prayers being said for her. I had a phone call from a classmate and saw on Facebook that Sandy passed away last night. Please pray for Jack and her family.  I will post the obituary when it appears in the Mirror.

       

Sandra L. “Sandy” Servello, 75, Altoona, passed away on Sunday.

She was born in Windber, daughter of the late Lavelle G. and Mildred (Lytle) Poet. On Oct. 31, 1959, she married Jack R. Servello Sr. at First Baptist Church, Altoona.

Surviving are her husband; a daughter: Riann (Adam) Edson; two sons: Jack Jr. (Barbara) and Randy (Amanda); eight grandchildren: Richard (Brittny), Olivia, Emelia, Danessa, Mitchell, Michaela, Jonah and Mayah; a sister, Shirley Montgomery; a brother, Richard Wahl; and her two cats: Tigger and Maddie.

She was previously employed by Brownies Potato Chips factory and was a cafeteria server at Keith Junior High School and also a housewife. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, where she was a deaconess, a member of the Faith Joy Sunday School class and she was also a volunteer staff member for the Reapers Food Ministry.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crafts, coloring and line dancing. Sandy was a member of Blair Senior Services Center, a Boy Scout den mother for 11 years, a Girl Scout troop leader for five years and a music parent.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona, and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, May 25, 2018, at First Baptist Church, Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Pastor Tyler Pepper officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, kindly make donations to Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602 or First Baptist Church, Reapers Food Ministry, 1209 17th St., Altoona, PA 16601.

A wonderful classmate and now mother of one of my favorite former students, Riann, Sandy gave and gave and gave of herself.  What a tragic loss.....

I went to Sandy's viewing and funeral with other 1960 classmates. The flowers were beautiful and we all know she is line dancing with Jesus!!!!!!!!! She's in the gory and would never want to return!  God Bless you Jack!!!!! You were a most precious couple! Very loving and sweet! You are in our prayers and thoughts!!!!! Darlene
