Donald W. Hamilton Sr.

Donald W. Hamilton Sr., 73, Hollidaysburg, went to be with the Lord Monday at his home, after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born in Chester, son of Clarence and Eunice (Hostetler) Hamilton. He married Shirley M. Ketrow on March 1, 1976, in Winchester, Va.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley; a daughter, Christine L. Dubbs (George); two sons: Scott A. Hamilton (Holly) and Donald W. Hamilton Jr. (Angel); and 10 grandchildren: Paige Hamilton, Samantha Hamilton, Scott Hamilton Jr., Kaitlyn Hamilton, Isaiah Hamilton, Kami Dubbs, George Dubbs, Clarissa Hamilton, Bronson Dubbs and Noelle Dubbs.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters.

Donald was a U.S. Army parachutist, stationed in Alaska, from 1961-64. He graduated from Altoona High School in 1960, and worked for Consolidated Freightways for 31 years, in addition to working for Veeder-Root, Proctor Silex and Altoona Hospital.

He was a member of Puzzletown Road Bible Church, Newry, where he was a head usher and director of the outreach center. He was also a member of Ravers Gap Sportsmen's Club, Woodbury, and Frankstown Sportsmen's Association, Hollidaysburg. He enjoyed church work, spending time with family, hunting, fishing and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, at Puzzletown Road Bible Church, Newry, Pastors John Gross, Lynn Johnston and Buddy Baird officiating. Interment will be held in Alto-Reste Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
