Carol A Benzel (Banks)

       I received a sweet message from Patty (Fields) Acker today.  she told me about the death of Carol Ann Benzel Banks.  Carol lived in Port Crane NY and I was able to find her obituary.  Thank you to each of you that help me keep this website current.   I have many fond memories of Carol growing up.  RIP Carol                               

Carol Banks, 80, journeyed to the heavenly world on May 11, 2023, from Mercy House, Endicott, New York. Her loving family were with her as the journey began. Predeceasing her, mother Emma and stepfather Carl Scheffer, father Karl Benzel, and brothers Robert and Richard and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her husband Edward, married 58 years plus, daughter Michele and husband David O'Toole and their two sons Zachary and Michael, and son Matthew Banks. Nephew Michael and Sharon Benzel and niece Suzanne and Scott Hardin and families and cousins Luann and Bob Seitz and Bonnie Keys. Carol graduated from Altoona High School class of 1960 and participated in the marching band for three years. Married to Edward in 1964 living in Lock Haven and moving to Binghamton the following year. Carol worked as a teacher's aid in the Chenango Forks School District with the preschool program. She thoroughly enjoyed working with the young children, teaching and support staff. Highlights in her life were following the evolution of the grandchildren Zachary and Michael in schooling, baseball and most important hockey time.

Our family extends the most grateful Thank You to Doctor Ronald Harris and his Oncology staff at UHS, Doctor Michael Federico and the staff at Endwell Physician Services, and a very special Thank You to the staff and officers of Mercy House. Please consider any financial help for Mercy House to continue the services they provide for those in hospice care. Private funeral service at the convenience of the family. So sorry to read of Carol's death. She was always such a friendly, upbeat classmate. RIP Carol, and condolences to thr the entire Banks family.
