Sandy, the school district has a named endowment fund. We could establish a Class of 1960 Endowment to which the unspent funds from the reunion could be deposited Classmates could contribute to the fund anytime and in any amount. The interest from the endowment is then used for supplemental educational projects developed by district faculty. Ask Paula Foreman about the fund.

Sandy,

I agree with Al Holtzinger that any funds we have remaong in our 1960 Class treasury should be used for the  Endowelment Fund already set up. The money will go to future good use!

Thanks again for you and the committee's hard work in maintaining our class web site and other class functi0ns. You guys are doing a great job!!!!

Thank you for this information.  I really like this idea.  I will check into this and have it for discussion at our next meeting.  Thank you for the compliments for our committee too.

Let me also endorse the fund idea from Al and Gerry.  The other nice thing about it is it will be available for other contributions in the future.  Great idea for individual donors or class gifts.  Jim

I too agree with what the guys have said. If a fund is established, then use the remaining money to supplement it.

Sandy, For all your hard ad efficient work on our 1960 Class Site I think you should take $100 of the available fund and treat yourself to a SPA day and then give all the remaining moniey and give it to the School fund that has been suggested.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Sandy,  That is an excellent idea for you to have a Spa Day from the Class. Always, Bonnie

I agree with the idea of a Class of '60 Endowment; a new endowment would require some management, so this has to be thought through.  Who would manage the requests and disbursements?  Seems like something that our class would support.  Sandy: after your Spa treatment, maybe you could find someone locally who could organize this?

I know this needs monitored, but we do need some thought and planning to go  into this. We have enough for a few years but then classmates would have to contribute (I for one would be glad to do that).  I also would be glad to monitor it, after I learn what we need to do.

Below is what I got from Paula Foreman at the AAHS.

Please read and comment.  Sandy

So nice to hear you had a successful reunion!   The idea of a scholarship is wonderful.  There are a couple of ways to do this.

1. You can set up a scholarship through the AAHS Main Office specific to your class.  As a committee/class you would be able to identify the criteria and be involved in the selection process as much as you like.  The scholarship award is listed in the Commencement booklet.  If your classmates/committee want to be involved in the selection of the recipient you can do that.  I can ask the high school to send you a scholarship packet if that's what you think you want.

2. You can choose to donate it to the AAHS Alumni Association Scholarship Fund.  As you know, we have been offering 10 - $1,000 scholarships yearly.  We have a committee that interviews the students prior to making the awards.   We could designate one of the 10 each year for the next four years as sponsored by the Class of 1960.  The remainder $500 could go toward a scholarship in year 5.

Hope this helps.

Thank you all for nice comments and especially mentioning a SPA day.  The commitee took very good care of me at the reunion.  If we do this endowment, I would want all the money to go there.

We would need parameters for who the scholarsip would be awarded to.  I would like to see the scholarship go to someone who has received good grades.  Parents are in middle income (agree on an amount of money the parents make.  A few smart kids get alot of the scholarships, this way others can be considered.

If there is someone out there who wants to manage and coordinaate this, please step forward.  I could then be

your helper here.

Thank you all.  I will take care of it until I cannot.  At times it is very sad and other times good news.   We are getting ready to send the next $1000 from our bank account to AAHS.  This is will be the second one.  Next year we may need help, but right now we are OK.  This keeps me intouch with so many of you.  Thank you again.

Sandy,  You do a super job all the time and you always respond to us.  Please give us the address that we need to send money to again.  I would appreciate it and I'm sure our class members will need it again.  Thanks again Sandy and may you have many Blessings come your way.  Always, Boinnie Soyster.

I would love a time machine to take us back to 1956.  Knowing what we know at 80+ would help in alot.
